Ho, Oct. 1, GNA- The Ghana AIDS Commission has disbursed about 4.4 billion cedis to 19 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and 12 community based organisations (CBO's) in the Ho District. Mr Cephas Ofori, a Focal Person for HIV/AIDS in the district, said this on Wednesday at the end of a five-day forum organised for Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs).
The programme that was organised by Community Development Awareness Forum (CODAF) was attended by 53 participants made up of three men and 50 women drawn from 30 communities in the area.
Speaking on the theme: "The Role of The Traditional Birth Attendant in Mother to Child HIV/AIDS Transmission", Mrs Innocentia Anthonio, a Senior Nursing Officer at the Ho District Hospital, advised the participants to use protective gloves to protect the expectant mother, the baby and the attendant against contracting the virus.
