ANOTHER TIME-BOMB TICKS AWAY IN NORTHERN GHANA

Thu, 26 Dec 2002 Source: THE INDEPENDENT

The Nawuris and the Kokombas in the Kpandai area in the East Gonja District of the Northern Region are sitting on a time bomb, which is likely to explode any moment.

The time bomb, which has manifested itself in the form of heightening tension between the two ethnic groups, is as a result of the accusation by the Kokombas who are in the majority in the area to the effect that the Nawuris are masterminding their arrest by the Police.

The INDEPENDENT can confirm that there is reliable information of a war signal emanating from the Kitare ‘B’ Zongo where the arrests are taking place after an escalation of violence led to the death of about eight Nawuris.
