The 2005 Old Student Association of Awudome Senior High School (OSUA’05) has presented two 330 ml water reservoirs to their alma mattar.
The reservoirs worth 12,000 would contribute to bring an end to the phenomenon of perennial water shortage in the school, where students are compelled to travel long distances outside the campus in search of water.
The Chairman of OSUA’05, Lawrence Dela Ganyo indicated the group learnt of the school’s predicaments through the media, hence decided to donate the water reservoirs to salvage the water crisis, in the interim.
The, Assistant Headmaster, Kudolo Francis who received the donations thanked the year group for the timely intervention.
He called on the old students to continue to come to the aid of the school, which is suffering some infrastructure deficits as well.
He added that “government alone cannot do all, therefore, there is a need for individuals and the private sector to contribute to the development of the country.”
Mr. Kudolo, however, expressed disappointment in the school’s Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) for being ineffective over the years, by failing to execute developmental projects in the school.
He lamented on the abandoned dining hall project started by the PTA in 2017, among other projects.
The Awudome Senior High School is one of the oldest second cycle schools in the Volta Region. The school established some sixty years ago, and now has a student population of over 1,100, still faces infrastructural challenges coupled with a perennial water crisis.
AWUSCO recently emerged the overall winner in the Volta Region contest of the National Science and Maths Quiz.
