Abusuapanin Boampong the new head of Sosromansa royal family of Abetifi in the Eastern region, Abusuapanin Charles Kwabena Boampong has petitioned the Judicial Committee of the Kwahu Traditional Council, challenging the traditional locus and authority of the chief of Abetifi, Nana Asiedu Agyemang II in holding himself as the Adontenhene of the Kwahu Traditional Council and selling lands belonging to the Sosromansa family.

The motion was filed at the traditional council on behalf of the Sosromansa Abusuapanin and seven other elders of the family by counsel of the group, Nana Obiri Boahen through his ‘Enso Nyame Ye’ Chambers on Friday, November 6, 2015.

The petitioners are asking the judicial committee of the council to restrain Nana Asiedu Agyemang from selling ancestral family land of Sosromansa, which shares common boundary with Pitiku Stool land, Kumawu Stool land, Burukuwa Stool land and Abene Stool land until the final determination of the case.

The motion also seeks to nullify the validity of Nana Asiedu Agyemang as the Chief of Abetifi and also the Adontenhene of the Kwahu Traditional Council.

According to the petitioners, Nana Asiedu Agyemang, who hails from the Kronkor Family of the Etena clan, is not the rightful occupant of the stool and that it is only members of the Sosromansa Stool who can ascend to both the male and female stools of Kwahu Adonten.

“Tradition, custom, legend and conventions of Kwahe Adonten State say unreservedly that it is only the royals of the Sosromansa lineage who can occupy the Adonten stool within the Kwahu Traditional Area,” the petitioners said, adding that ever since the people of Abetifi migrated from Asante about 300 years ago and settled at Abetifi, it has always been the royals of the Sosromansa division of the Etena Royal Clan or Family who have occupied both the male and female stool of Abetifi.

The petitioners noted that the Kronkor family, which Nana Asiedu Agyemang belongs to, can only ascend to the Akyeame Stool of Abetifi.

According to the petitioners, they initially protested against the wrongful installation of Nana Agyemang as chief of Abetifi.

“The purported installation of Nana Asiedu Agyemang is therefore null and void and same of no legal effect. By custom, tradition, convention and law, the respondent has never been nominated, selected, considered and enstooled as the chief of Abetifi,” the petitioners claimed.
