Abisim M/A primary school gets new block

A six unit classroom block has been commissioned for the Abisim M/A Primary school to help improve their standard and quality of education.

The facility, which was built at a cost of GH¢250,000.00 consists of six classrooms, offices for the headteacher and the staff.

The project was funded by Motec life-UK, a Medical charity organisation based in the United Kingdom, with focuses on education transfer of skills and health care services.

The facility is expected to benefit over 250 pupils who were stuck in a dilapidated structure for so many years at Abisim in the Suhum Municipality in the Eastern Region.

The project was launched in April of 2017 and completed in 2019 for inauguration.

The founding President of Motec Life-UK , Dr Ofori Atta said, they engaged the community to know and understand their problems, so he is hopeful that the community would own the project and ensure that pupils would be encouraged to patronise the facility and derive the needed benefits of education. He said, if the community was able to manage the school,it would encourage their organisation to build a new Junior High School(JHS)block and library for them. The Suhum Municipal Chief Executive (CEO), Mrs Margaret Darko-Darkwa advised the community to build a strong partnership with the school authorities so that going forward they could both see to the advancement of education in the area. The Headteacher of the School, Mr J. Osei Bekoe , urged parents in the community and nearby villages to take advantage to enroll their children in the school to help promote the education of their wards.

He said the school was faced with challenges such as bad relationship between the community and the teachers, teenage pregnancy and immorality among the school children.

The Chief of Abisim, Nana Baffour Adjanor IV, commended the charity organisation for their efforts in spearheading the course of quality education in the community.

He advised the community to take advantage of the opportunity offered them to position themselves to eradicate poverty from their lives and the community. The Chief expressed his willingness to liaise with the Municipal Assembly for the school to be be hooked to the school feeding programme for the less privileged children to get food to eat.
