The Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly has inaugurated standpipe water projects for seven electoral areas of the municipality to make water accessible to the people.
The areas are Nmenmeete, Abossey Okai, Mataheko, Gbortsui, Adwenbu, Mambruk and Lartebiokorshie, where each of the areas would benefit from four standpipes.
Two of the electoral areas would also be provided with additional one poly tank each at vantage points to enhance their water supply.
Ms Mariama Karley Amui, the Ablekuma Central Municipal Chief Executive in an interview with the Ghana News Agency after the inauguration called on the public not to waste water provided freely by the government.
She said the projects were in compliance to a directive by the government to all municipal, metropolitan and district assemblies to make water supply accessible to the citizenry.
Ms Amui said “The noble gesture by the Government is to ensure that water is regularly available to help the public to comply with the washing of hands and other safety protocols.”
Mr Yakubu Asoke Abane, the Presiding Member of the Assembly expressed gratitude to the government for the projects and gave the assurance that measures would be put in place for the proper usage and maintenance of the standpipes.
