Agona Abodom (C/R), July 25, GNA - Chiefs of Abodom and the youth have settled a long-standing dispute that had stalled the development of the town.

The dispute centred on allegations the youth threw at the traditional authorities that they were misapplying funds meant for development projects.

Mr Samuel Obodai, Member of Parliament for Agona West, who brought the two sides together, said it was important for the town to have peace to speed up its development.

He said the government would not send development projects to communities that promoted conflict and appealed to the youth of Abodom to respect the chiefs and opinion leaders. Mr Obodai appealed to the chiefs to hold constant consultations with the youth.

The MP commended the various associations from Tema, Accra, Kumasi, Cape Coast, Takoradi, and Kasoa for their role in resolving the dispute.

Mr Obodai told the youth and chiefs that talks were going on with the Omanhene of Nyakrom Traditional Area, Nana Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku X, to settle a protracted chieftaincy dispute that had existed in the town for more a decade.
