Abokobi, Feb. 7, GNA - The Abokobi Health Centre on Monday received 100,000 million cedis worth of medical items from the Night of Malta, an International Non-Governmental Organization with headquarters in Malta. The items, mainly syringes and needles, were presented to the Centre through the Abokobi Presbyterian Church.
Rev. Robert Amarh Kwei Biofio-Quartey, District Pastor of the Church said another consignment at the items also worth 100 million cedis had been presented to a hospital in Tema.
He said both donations followed a promise the Ambassador of Night Malta made four years ago when he visited Ghana.
Rev. Biofio-Qaurtey said it was the aim of the Night of Malta to reach out to less fortunate and deprived communities in the world to assist them meet some of their needs.
Dr. Yaa Osei Asante, District Director of the Ghana Health Service who received the items thanked the Church for its role in securing and taking care of the items and promised that they would put to good use.
