About 2,000 graduates in Ho register for jobs

Ho, Dec. 05, GNA - Ho Municipal Secretariat of National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) has registered about 2,000 graduates from tertiary institutions for job placement by the Ministry of Manpower, Youth and Employment.

Mrs Elizabeth Kakpo, Ho Municipal Coordinator of the programme who disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency said they would be considered for 10 components.

These include Youth in Information Communication Technology (ICT), Youth in Agri-Business and Community Protection System. She described the programme as a " window of hope" for the unemployed graduates in the municipality.

"This is a timely intervention for the youth especially university graduates to stop the tireless combing for non-existing jobs in urban towns and cities," Mrs Kakpo said.

She said within three weeks efforts would be made to secure jobs for those who had registered and called on graduates in the municipality to take advantage of the programme.

Mrs Kakpo said 468 Senior Secondary School (SSS) graduates registered for the programme a month ago in the municipality under three components comprising Community Education Teaching Assistants, Agriculture and Sanitation had started benefiting. She said about 236 million cedis had been paid to 408 youths in agriculture and sanitation.
