About 3,758 BECE candidates registered in Atwima-Nwabiagya

Nkawie (Ash), April 20, GNA- About 3,758 candidates have registered to write this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District in Ashanti Region.

Mr Robert Amanquah-Awuah, the District Examination Officer, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Nkawie on Thursday, said out of the number, 2,073 were males and 1,685 females.

He said 2,860 candidates comprising 1,602 males and 1,258 females from public schools registered while 898 candidates made up of 471 males and 427 females from private schools were presented for the examinations.

Mr. Amanquah-Awuah said 12 examination supervisors and 129 invigilators have been trained to oversee the examination at centres in the district.

The centres were sited at Barekese, Tweneboa Kodua International School, Saint Lisbert International School, all at Abuakwa, Asuofua, Osei Tutu Secondary School at Akropong, NKawie Secondary/Technical School, Toase Secondary School and Adankwame. Mr Amanquah-Awuah said all relevant materials have been dispatched to the examination centres and adequate measures put in place to ensure a successful examination this year.
