Young and Wise Club of the Ghana Secondary Senior High School (SHS) Koforidua, bagged 60 points to win the students reproductive health quiz competition organized by the New Juaben Municipal Assembly.

The competition aimed to inform the youth in the Municipality about their reproductive health and as a way of helping to reduce HIV/AIDS infection among young people.

New Juaben is one of the Municipalities in the Eastern Region with high HIV prevalence rate of 2.6 with the region having an HIV prevalence of 3.2 as against the national average rate of 1.5.

Oyoko Methodist SHS came second with 34 points while Koforidua Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Senior High School came third with 27 points.

Mr Anthony Koranteng-Kwarfo, Chairman of the Southern Zone of Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana(PPAG), appealed to the youth to take advantage of the opportunities offered to them to focus on their goals in life and become useful citizens to the country.

He said ignorance could destroy all efforts and they should take advantage of their membership of the Young and Wise Club, a youth club formed by PPAG to promote education of young people in reproductive health, to get informed about all that they need to know about their reproductive health.

In that way, he said, they could protect themselves against some dangers that other young people have suffered out of ignorance.**
