Abuakwa-North MP spends 1.74 billion cedis on projects in constituency

New Tafo (E/R), Feb. 25, GNA - Mr J B Danquah-Adu, Member of Parliament (MP) (NPP) for Abuakwa North Constituency, has spend over 1.74 billion cedis on development projects in the constituency for the last two years.

Mr Danquah-Adu who was elected as the MP for the newly created constituency in 2004 said the greater part of the money used to fund the projects were from his MP's share of the Common Fund, Getfund and the HIPC Fund.

He was speaking during an interaction with the press after taking media personnel from Koforidua to inspect some of the projects that he had undertaken in the constituency at the weekend.

Mr Danquah-Adu said he had purchased 160 low-tension wooden electricity poles for extension of electricity to Tontro, Sokode-Juaso, Ahweabeng, New Tafo, Kukurantumi and Old Tafo.

He said he had also ordered 100 pieces of wooden low-tension poles from Accra for distribution to Aboabo, Fisher, Nobi and Abreponsu, under the SHEP 3 Rural Electrification Project.

Mr Danquah-Adu said he had renovated the Kukurantumi and Old Tafo markets at the cost of over 199 million cedis.

He said he had also provided funding for the renovation of Osiem SDA Junior Secondary School block, the Old Tafo Presbyterian Upper Primary School and also supplied 150 bags of cement to I P S and Only Believe schools at Kukurantumi.

Mr Danquah-Adu said currently he had initiated a programme for the renovation of the New Tafo Market at a total cost of 3 billion cedis and the tarring of some selected streets at New Tafo, Kukurantumi, Old Tafo and the Old Tafo-Ayinasin road.
