The Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly was celebrated for its outstanding contributions to sustainable development at the 2nd Ghana Development Awards, hosted by The Business Executive on July 26, 2024, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.
Since its establishment in June 2018, the Assembly has emerged as a beacon of growth and innovation in Ghana’s Eastern Region, excelling in local governance through its emphasis on sustainable industrialization and modernized agriculture.
Despite challenges such as inadequate road infrastructure, the Assembly has made significant progress in economic growth, infrastructure development, and educational access, which have collectively enhanced the quality of life and promoted long-term environmental sustainability.
The award highlights the Assembly’s commitment to inclusive development and environmental stewardship, benefiting all community members.
The ceremony also recognized the exceptional leadership of Alhaji Dr. Umar Babs Bodinga, the Municipal Chief Executive since 2021.
Mr. Bodinga’s educational background, including a Masters in Executive Leadership from Crown Agent College in the UK, and his expertise in local governance have been pivotal in advancing the Assembly’s goals.
His leadership has driven the Assembly’s success in infrastructure, economic growth, and fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
This award acknowledges the Assembly’s and Mr. Bodinga’s dedication to excellence in governance and their significant impact on the residents of Abuakwa North.
It serves as both a recognition of their achievements and an inspiration for other regions to pursue sustainable development.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to continuing the journey towards a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
