A Tamale High Court has dismissed a case brought by the Regent of Dagbon, the Kampakuya Naa, challenging the legitimacy of the Abudus Regent, the Boling-Lana Abdulai, as a son of a former Yaa-Naa.

Reports are that the Kampakuya-Naa dragged the entire Abudu family to court claiming that the Boling-Lana has no right performing certain traditional rights as the son of a former Yaa-Naa.

But a Tamale High Court, presided over by Justice Gyamfi, has ruled that the Boling-Lana has the right to perform those traditional rights since his father, the late Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai died as a former Yaa-Naa.

Speaking to Citi News, the youth chief for Boling-Lana, Abubakari Nachin-Naa, said this development has brought joy to the Abudu Royals in Dagbon who are rejoicing over the court ruling.

“Boling-Lana has qualified to perform all customary rites and everybody is happy,” he stated.

Mr. Nachin-Naa said: “Yendi is a big town. There are about 12 assembly men out of which 11 are being controlled by Boling-Lana so if something comes in favour of Boling-Lana, the whole of Yendi will be happy.”
