Accept Election Results - Chiefs Urge Ghanaians

Awutu-Beraku (C/R), Dec. 27, GNA - Two Divisional chiefs in the Awutu Traditional Area, Nai Clottey Kwaokurabi of Awutu-Kwaokurabi, and Nai Kwao Otuo of Awutu-Mankessim, have added their voices to the call on Ghanaians to ensure that Sunday's polls were conducted in a peaceful manner.

Speaking in separate interviews at Awutu-Beraku and Awutu-Mankessim, respectively, on Friday, the two Chiefs who are also members of the Awutu Traditional Council, said as leaders of the communities, all that they required from them was a deeper sense of self-discipline, especially on the part of qualified voters in the area. They reminded the citizenry that the two men, who were contesting for the presidency, were Ghanaians, saying that either of the candidates who would emerge the winner must be given all the necessary social, moral and spiritual support to ensure the effective development of the country.

In another development, Mr Alex Afenyo Markin, Presiding Member of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, has advised followers of the two major political parties contesting the election in the Effutu Constituency to avoid any act that might have negative impact on the event. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Winneba, Mr Afenyo Markin maintained that the Presidential Election Runoff was of significance, not only to the nation, but the entire world, hence the presence of the numerous monitoring groups from the various parts of the globe. It was, therefore, incumbent on every citizen to count himself or herself as a key player in the game, which has brought the country's democracy to this stage of development and to make the election a total success, he said.
