New Edubiase (Ash), Dec. 22, GNA - The assembly member for Apagya in the Adansi South District has appealed to people in the area to endorse the President's nominee for the District Chief Executive (DCE). Mr William Adansi-Gyimah said the absence of a DCE is affecting the socio-economic progress of the district. The President's first nominee, Mr Ampofo Poku Manu, had to be withdrawn after he failed to get the mandatory two-thirds majority vote of the assembly. The assembly is yet to vote on Nana Oppong Kyekyeku, who has just been nominated to fill the position. Already, some supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress at New Edubiase are demanding that he should be withdrawn and have held a protest march in the district capital. Mr Adansi-Gyimah asked the people to submerge their individual and sectional interests for the good of the district. He asked for a united front to facilitate the development of the area. 22 Dec. 09
