materials worth GH¢10,000 and GH¢4,000 to Play Soccer Ghana, a non-

governmental organisation,(NGO )to facilitate the development of

football among children and the youth at the grassroots.

The package for Global Peace games and programme include MTN-

Play Soccer branded T-shirts and training bibs, footballs, First Aid kits,

inflators, mobile phones 3.5 G Modems, airtime, caps, foam peaks and

water bottles.

Mr Robert Kuzoe, Executive Secretary of MTN Ghana Foundation, said

the assistance was in support of youth soccer towards Ghana's success at

world football tournaments.

He said the three editions of MTN's pioneer flagship football reality

shows; MTN Soccer Academy had produced young football talents who

had already featured for the various national teams.

Mr Kuzoe explained that MTN considered the support as a way to

sustain its relationship with FIFA through sanctioned programmes and

affiliates such as the Football for Hope project with Play Soccer Ghana as

the implementing partner and manager for the centre in Cape Coast.

"We are particularly happy because of the level of community

involvement, by getting local youth and community members to

volunteer as trainers and coaches for the programme," he said.

Mr Kuzoe said MTN's association with Play Soccer Ghana begun in

2009 when they participated in its 21 Days of Y'ello Care Football Clinic

programme at Tema SOS village and this year's edition at Tema

Manhean.

He said that employee volunteers would visit the various programme

sites to track the impact of this intervention, and reiterated MTN's

commitment to support appropriate and sustainable interventions in

communities across the country.

Mr Sam Brew-Butler, Board Member of Play Soccer Ghana, thanked

MTN Ghana Foundation for the support and requested for a lifelong

relationship to help sustain grassroots football development.

He said the Play Soccer Ghana was determined to equip the children

with the requisite life skills needed for the development of their welfare.
