Accra Brewery Limited (ABL), Ghana’s premier beverage producer has made a GH¢10,000 donation to the Volta Region Development Agency (VORDA).
The company donated the amount in support of the Agency’s social and economic progress in the Volta Region.
A statement to the Ghana News Agency on Sunday said the company also presented 30 cases of assorted drinks to the Asogli Traditional Council.
The presentation took place at the private residence of the Agbogbomefia of Asogli, Togbe Afede XIV, in Accra when a delegation from ABL led by its Corporate and Legal Affairs Director, Adjoba Kyiamah paid a courtesy call on the renowned traditional ruler and businessman.
VORDA’s primary objective is to provide an enabling environment for the acceleration of growth, wealth creation and the enhancement of the living standards of the people of the Volta Region through the provision of basic essentials such as education, water, sanitation, health and economic infrastructure.
ABL as part of its commitment to ensure the growth of the Ghanaian agricultural sector has been sourcing some of its raw materials from the Volta Region.
“We deem it fit to support the region that is home to some of our raw materials. Although our relationship with the farmers in parts of the Volta Region is purely business, we believe in giving back to society and this donation is proof of that”, according to Legal and Corporate Affairs Director of ABL, Adjoba Kyiamah.
She added, “we intend to make our presence well felt in this region and as a way of creating and maintaining a mutually beneficial relation, we shall from time to time support initiatives aimed at creating access to good health, education and water”.
Togbe Afede XIV commended ABL for the gesture and noted that it would go a long way to further the aims and objectives of the Agency, one of which is to promote local investment, explore and support economically viable ventures within the region.
“We appreciate this donation and hope that it paves the way for more support as your company solidifies its footprints within the economic sphere of the Volta Region through the increased sourcing of your local raw materials,” he said.
Togbe Afede XIV continued: “Having once done business with ABL and even being a shareholder in ABL, I know its growth potentials and will only wish you well in your future investment plans not only in the Volta Region but in this country as a whole.”
In the Volta Region, ABL already has a partnership with the Ghana Education Project which is doing tremendous work in increasing access to education in the Nkwanta area.
