The Accra Business School (ABS) has held its 8th congregation with 147 students being awarded various degrees and diplomas.

The 147 graduands comprised 80 MBA students, six Post-graduate Diploma Students and 31 Level seven Extended Diploma Students.

The ceremony was held at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences on the theme: “The work-ready graduate.’’

Bishop Gideon Titi-Offei, President of the ABS, congratulated the graduates and urged them to go out and make a difference in the world of work.

“Our graduates are not going to add up to the huge problem of unemployment but are going to create jobs, increase jobs, increase incomes and reduce poverty because at ABS we are providing solution to the African leadership crisis,’’ he said.

He blamed joblessness among graduates, largely, mismatch between their education and labour market requirement.

He added: “While it would be most appropriate for all stakeholders to join together to improve graduate employability, there appears to be excessive demand on Higher Education Institutions to produce the graduates with the profile that the industry needs.”

He said a shift in attitude where important stakeholders assumed variety of roles in employability skills was needed to enhance mobility of graduates, university faculties and facilitate the transitional phase of new graduates.

The School announced that by May 2020, it would open the Accra Doctoral Center and host the Africa Business leaders in London Summer School.

This is anticipated to bring together leaders across the length and breadth of Africa to promote intra-Africa trade.

Ms. Mary Boamah Frimpong received the valedictorian award for the MBA class while the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration went to Ms. Irene Adjoa Akotia.

The ABS parades itself as a prestigious Christian Business School accredited to offer globally recognized postgraduate, undergraduate and professional programmes in a Christ-centered scholarly environment that integrates faith and learning.

The school is an affiliate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Australian Institute of Business Adelaide, Australian awards for Training and Higher Education, Norwich, UK.
