Awutu Bawjiase(C/R), Sept. 13, GNA ? Members of Accra East District of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church have presented five bales of used clothing, textbooks and fruits worth 30 million cedis to inmates of Awutu Bawjiase Orphanage Home to support their upkeep. The church in addition, presented 100 gallons capacity polytank estimated at about 5.8 million cedis to Gomoa Jukwa SDA Secondary School. The presentation formed part of the week-long Annual Camp Meeting of the church held at Agona Swedru to outline its social responsibility to under privileged children in society. Elder Brefo Mensah making the presentation said it formed part of the church's social responsibility to care for orphans, widows and destitutes. He said last year, the church presented some items to patients at the Agona Swedru Government Hospital but decided that this year it should be the turn of orphans. Elder Mensah said the Women?s Ministry of the church decided to make the presentation to orphans and shared the word of God with the inmates to encourage them to have confidence and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. Mrs Emma Boafo, Mother of the Orphanage receiving the items thanked the donors for their kind gesture. She said some of the inmates had been enrolled in Junior and Senior Secondary Schools and would need sponsorship to enable them have quality education to become responsible adults. Mrs Boafo said the Orphanage urgently required a means of transport and health facilities to cater for the health needs of the inmates and appealed to philanthropists, institutions and organisations to assist the Orphanage.
