Accra mayor secures support for mamprobi polyclinic

The Mayor of Accra, Dr Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije has secured support for the Mamprobi Polyclinic in Accra to enable the clinic deliver healthcare services effectively to patients and people in the community.

According to Dr. Vanderpuije, the support came through during one of his visits to the United States where a Ghanaian family based in Oklahoma expressed the desire to be part of the developmental agenda of the country and therefore donated some medical items.

The said family, Michael Dzane family, later footed all shipment bills and got the items brought to Ghana.

“This is what we always do, anytime we travel outside the country, we ensure we meet Ghanaians abroad, tell them about the development and challenges facing the country and in fact, many of them do express their willingness to support and be part of Ghana’s success story and this is an example of such moves,” he said. The medical equipments include Dressing Antiseptics’, syringes and needles, sterile shoulder package, special surgical process, surgical procedures, optical masers and surgical under sheets. The rest include urine bags, special syringes, crip bandages, and Vail adaptors. According to the Mayor, the equipments will go a long way, even though not enough, to help healthcare providers at the Clinic in taking good care of patients.

In a related development, the Mayor has also presented an amount of GH¢1000.00 to a 15 year old patient by name Chantel Suzy, a pupil of the Kpong Presby School admitted at the Clinic . According to Dr. Alfred Vanderpuije, he was touched by a story carried on GTV about the girl on admission at the Mamprobi Ployclinic who, because of lack of funds, could not continue her education and hence decided to help. Also touched by the girl’s plight were Zoomlion, Prefos Limited and Melcom who donated cash amounts of GH¢2000.00, GH¢2000.00 as well as an educational Coupon to the girl respectively.

Dr. Matilda Quist, Director of Nursing Services at the Clinic, thanked the Mayor for his efforts and expressed appreciation to Melcom, Zoomlion and Prefos Limited for extending their kind gestures to the little girl.

However, she took the opportunity to appeal to the Mayor to assist the Clinic get a generator, street lighting system and an ambulance.

In his response Dr. Okoe Vanderpuije, said Government is ready to assist the Clinic in delivering the best of services and in that regard, promised that the generator, street lights and the ambulance will be provided as soon as possible.
