Bibiani (W/R), Nov. 6, GNA - Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Francis Enorh, Bibiana-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District Commander on Friday urged drivers to act more responsibly to reduce road accidents in the country.
He said drivers must observe safety rules, avoid speeding and should not drive under the influence of alcohol and hard drugs. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Bibiani, DSP Enorh pledged the commitment of the police to bring to justice motorists who disregarded road traffic regulations.
He said the police were determined to ensure that this year's Christmas was "accident free."
The district recorded a total of 24 accidents that claimed 10 lives between January and October this year. Last year, 13 people died in 39 road accidents in the area. DSP Enorh attributed the downward trend to regular motor checks mounted by the police and said this would be sustained. He described as worrying the surge in accidents involving pedestrians and counselled them to be careful when crossing the road. 6 Nov. 10
