Action-Aid sponsors five-day workshop for teachers in Bolga

Bolgatanga, Sept. 16, GNA - A 19.2 million-cedi five-day Action-Aid Ghana (AAG) sponsored workshop for 80 pupil teachers has ended in Bolgatanga.

Participants were taken through Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) components and objectives, strategies in teaching, phonic reading, weekly scheme of work, lesson notes preparation, and gender awareness, channels of communication and teaching and learning materials preparation.

Mr Adekuna Harrison, Course Prefect commended AAG for financing the workshop to enable them to upgrade their skills in teaching. Mr Adekuna commended the resource persons for their excellent delivery and pledged that what they had learnt would be put to use to improve education.

Mr Jacob Y.I. Asigri, Municipal Director of Education challenged pupil teachers not to use teaching as a stepping stone to other jobs but rather upgrade themselves to become professional teachers to produce the manpower needs of the country.

Mr Asigri advised participants to eschew drunkenness, lateness and lesson skipping and other negative acts, which tarnish the teaching profession.

He urged them to put to good use what they have learnt at the workshop to enhance quality education delivery. 15 Sept. 03
