ActionAid Ghana (AAG), an international development charity, has donated various relief items to flood victims at Dome in the Ga East District of the Greater Accra Region.

Each household affected by the June 3 flood in the area took home a bag of rice, five bottles of cooking oil, five bags of sachet water, two bottles of Shito (pepper sauce), two pillows, two pieces of Mattress, two pieces of Blanket, two buckets, two packs of sanitary pad and one pack of toilet roll.

Two hundred households with a targeted population of 765 benefited from the donation.

Mrs Henrietta Lamptey, Acting Regional Programme Manager for Greater Accra and Volta Regions, AAG, said the organization would collaborate with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), to bring about relief to persons who suffered during the flood.

Mr Benjamin Kwasi Tawiah, AAG Communications and Public Relations Manager, described June 3 as the "darkest day in the country’s history.”

He said the donation was part of AAG's contribution towards the national rebuilding process “which would strengthen our resolve to avoid such disasters or surmount future challenges.”

Mr Tawiah told the beneficiaries that, “In line with our values and vision, we have taken sides with the distressed and afflicted and we want you to know that we are with you all the way.”

Officials from NADMO supervised the distribution.
