Ada Chief Seeks Ceasefire

THE PARAMOUNT Chief of Ada, Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III, has called for a ceasefire in the escalating internal conflict in the Ada Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for peace to prevail.

According to the paramount chief who launched the passionate appeal, the Ada NDC which was grappling with deep internal wrangling over executive and District Chief Executive (DCE) positions should cease fighting and see how best to iron out issues.

The Ada Regional NDC Executive members are in serious loggerhead with a group called Interim Constituency Executive Committee who supported and campaigned for the parliamentary candidate, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe Ghansah to win the December 2012 parliamentary election for taking over their position as executive members.

The misunderstanding has led to accusations and counter accusations which have developed craters in the NDC party.

Nene Okuno Osabutey Lanuer II, Member of the Ada Traditional Council addressing a section of the media at his palace on behalf of the paramount chief noted that the paramount chief was not aware of the current internal bickering within the party and Ada in general until he heard it in the media.

He said he would be convening an emergency meeting with all the factions involved to address the issue for peace to reign in Ada.

The paramount chief further said he must be informed about all happenings within his jurisdiction on time to see how best to address them so as to prevent them from getting into public domain. He promised to ensure peace and tranquillity.

“All the parties involved are my children; therefore, I’m going to hold an emergency meeting involving all the parties fighting in the Ada district to seek measures on how best to address the issue in the area,” he explained.

He noted with displeasure the trend of the escalating conflicts in the Ada NDC, and called on the people to always seek his consent, as custodian of the land, before engaging in anything.

He bemoaned accusations and counter accusations in the party which have brought about misunderstanding in the Ada community.
