Ada Outreach Network (AON), a non-profit organization formed by some alumni of Ada Senior High School, has made a substantial contribution to their alma mater.
The NGO presented the school with 20 computer units and dozens of essential textbooks focusing on Mathematics and Integrated Science. The donated computers are expected to significantly enhance the school's ICT infrastructure, providing students with crucial access to modern educational resources and the skills needed in today's digital world.
The Mathematics and Integrated Science textbooks will supplement the school’s existing resources, aiding both teachers and students in achieving academic excellence.
Complementing these donations, the Ada Outreach Network orchestrated a transformative mentorship outreach program. Seasoned professionals and esteemed alumni from diverse fields shared invaluable insights on key topics. These mentorship sessions, designed to broaden the students’ horizons, have the potential to inspire them to embark on diverse and fulfilling career paths.
Some topics covered included Navigating the Paths to Tertiary Education: Tips and Strategies for Getting in and Succeeding, Career Paths in Technology (ICT), Career Paths in the Arts & Sciences, and Career Paths in Business. Before meeting the student body, AON also met with staff to brainstorm strategies and methodologies to improve academic performance, emphasizing the four (4) core subject areas - Mathematics, English, Social Studies, and Integrated Science.
Mr. Gabriel Teye-Ali Numotsu, the NGO's Director of Partnerships and Advocacy, said the organization is driven by its vision to support and empower young students in the Dangme regions.
"Our vision is to create a world where every young student in the Dangme State is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to thrive and shape a brighter future for themselves and their communities. This donation is a testament to our commitment to this vision," Teye-Ali stated.
The donation ceremony, held on the school’s premises, was attended by students, teachers, school authorities, and members of the Ada Outreach Network.
The donation and mentorship program were met with enthusiastic appreciation from the Ada Senior High School administration, teachers, and student body. The school’s senior housemaster, Mr. Elvis Frank Birikorang, who received the donations on behalf of the school, underscored the pivotal role of technology in contemporary education. The students enthusiastically welcomed the opportunity to learn from relatable mentors and seasoned professionals.
The Ada Outreach Network's unwavering dedication to its alma mater exemplifies the transformative impact of alumni support. By channeling resources back into their community and investing in the next generation, the AON is paving the way for a more promising future for the Dangme communities. AON seeks to reach out to all second-cycle institutions and basic schools within Ada over the next year and continue to other Dangme communities.
