Ho, March 18, GNA - Togbe Lablulu Tegbeza V, Spokesperson for Adaklu Traditional Area, on Friday appealed to the Volta Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Dzamesi, to recommend to government to reconsider designating Adaklu-Waya as the capital of the newly created Adaklu-Anyigbe District.

He said the primary concern of the people of Adaklu was that the truth, based on Legislative Instrument (L.I.1741) that created the new district with Adaklu-Waya as its capital, be allowed to prevail. Togbe Tegbeza said this when he led some chiefs and opinion leaders of Adaklu Traditional Area to call on Mr Dzamesi to congratulate on his appointment.

They also explained their reason for embarking on a demonstration regarding his comments about matters pertaining to the location of the capital of the new district during his vetting in Parliament. Togbe Tegbeza said the chiefs and people of Adaklu were naturally taken aback when L.I. 1741 that designated Adaklu-Waya as the capital was set aside and replaced by L.I.1807 that instead designated Kpetoe as the capital of the new district.

He said based on the decision contained in L.I. 1741 the chiefs and people of Adaklu quickly built structures including a well furnished District Chief Executive's bungalow in readiness for the take-off of the new district.

Mr Dzamesi said the choice of a district capital was the responsibility of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) and not the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC).

He said though he was working with LI 1807, he hopes to sit down with the MLGRD to form a committee to look into the issue.
