Kpetoe (V/R), Jan 13 GNA - There are positive signs that the people of Adaklu Traditional Area could soon join the newly created Adaklu Anyigbe District Assembly, which they have been boycotting due to the siting of the capital at Kpetoe instead of Adaklu Waya.
Mr Mawuli Kwame Dabi, the District Chief Executive (DCE) said this on Thursday in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on a statement by the Togbe Gbogbi Atsa V, Paramount Chief of Adaklu Traditional Area, calling for fresh consultations of the people of the area on the issue. Togbe Atsa in his statement suspended the Ad-hoc Committee formed at Ashiaman in the Greater Accra Region about two years ago with the mandate to handle matters relating to the siting of the capital of the district at Kpetoe on Wednesday, while the consultations went on to reflect the position of the people.
It is the ad hoc committee that advised the boycott of the district by the Adaklus, after all protestations to get government rescind the decision to site the capital in Agortime-Kpetoe failed. Mr Dabi said now that the larger community will be consulted and with some youth groups and opinion leaders calling on their compatriots to rescind their decision not to have anything to do with the district, he was hopeful that peace would soon return to the district.
The DCE, who is a citizen of Adaklu said he was working closely with some identifiable groups in the area to facilitate the peace process. He praised Mr S.W.K. Tsadidey, Principal of Government Training College (GOVCO) at Peki, and a citizen of Adaklu, for his efforts to unite the people of Adaklu with the district.
The DCE said his vision for the district was to build its human resource base but could only do this in an atmosphere of peace and appealed to all and sundry to work towards it.
