Adaklu-Aboadi, May 5, GNA - Togbe Gbogbi Atsa, V, Paramount Chief of the Adaklu-Traditional Area, has instituted a central advisory committee to plan the development of the area. The committee comprising all divisional chiefs of the area, with 79 settlements, has sub-committees on security, arbitration, tourism, land and development.

Togbe Atsa said this at a ceremony organized by his sub-chiefs to formally cancel his purported destoolment five years ago for his supposed desertion of his people in their struggle to reverse the designation of Agortime-Kpetoe as the District capital of the newly created Adaklu-Anyigbe district instead of Adaklu-Waya. He said the team, which would co-opt citizens from the area as and when necessary would immediately begin the liaison needed for a new district for the area.

Togbe Atsa said he would not fault anybody for the events of the past, which ostracized him from his people, expressing joy that no lives were lost during the heated agitations.

Togbe Agbobada IV, Senior Divisional Chief of Adaklu-Anfoe, who read the statement reversing the action, said the sub-chiefs had to act because in their opinion, Togbe Atsa "acted in ways that were not only injurious to the interest of Adaklu but were in violation of his oath of office. "It is our greatest pleasure to announce that we the chiefs have amicably resolved our differences with Togbui Gbogbi Atsa V and have restored full recognition for him as the traditional ruler of the Adaklu Traditional Area. "He has therefore regained full legitimacy to act on behalf of the chiefs and people of Adaklu," he stated. Togbe Agbobada expressed gratitude that the peace attained "was home brewed," not requiring the "intervention of any third party or eminent chiefs from anywhere".

He however acknowledged the "interest shown by the Regional Minister, District Chief Executive of Adaklu- Anyigbe District and the Asogli Traditional Council in the need for us to get the conflict resolved". He denied that the people of Adaklu had been in conflict with the people of Agotime over the issue of capital as purported by certain media publications.

The statement was initialled by 13 people including Chiefs and Assembly Members.
