Adansi South Assembly to recruit volunteer teachers

Atobiase (Ash), Nov 12, GNA - The Adansi South District Assembly is to recruit about 500 volunteer teachers to fill vacancies in schools in the district as a means of improving upon the standard of education. Mr. Francis Dorpenyoh, the District Chief Executive, disclosed this when he toured some communities in the district, which included Amudurase and Atobiase to acquaint himself with the situation there. He said the assembly would employ senior secondary school leavers in a bid to solve the shortage of teachers in the district and that this will also help to reduce the rate of unemployment among the youth in the area.

Mr. Dorpenyoh said those who would be employed would undergo some in-service training under the supervision of the district education directorate to equip them with some teaching skills. He announced that five basic schools in the district would be selected to benefit from the free-feeding programme. The DCE expressed the President's gratitude to the people for their support and votes in the 2004 elections and hoped that they will continue to support the NPP.

The people of Atobiase appealed to the DCE to build a new primary school block for the community since the present one had become a death trap.

They also asked the DCE to liaise with the Ashanti Regional Minister to complete a 200 million cedis computer school, which was at a standstill and that for about six months now the contractor had not been seen in the town.
