Adenta Zongo and Tribal Chiefs installs Defender of Peace

The High Council of Adenta Zongo and Tribal Chiefs has installed Asafoatse Alakorko with the title of Garku'a (Defender of Peace) within the Adenta Municipality.

Asafoatse Alakorko is the La Asafoatse and has played a major role in promoting peace among the other tribes in the municipality and has ensured unity among various tribal and Ga chiefs within the area.

His love and passion for promoting peace have earned him respect among the Chiefs of Adenta and its environs, hence his installation as the Defender of Peace.

Addressing the media on the sidelines of the event, the President of the High Council of Adenta Zongo and Tribal Chiefs, Alhaji Adamu Salifu Haruna, revealed that the conferment of the peacemaker title forms part of Asafoatse Alakorko's contribution to promoting and sustaining peace wherever he finds himself.

He said peace is the most important thing in human development, and the newly installed peacemaker has proven that he is a peacemaker and wants to change the dynamics of the chieftaincy in Adenta and Accra at large.

He added that the installation of Asafoatse Alakorko will help the people of Adenta due to his capability of bringing the Ga chiefs and the Muslim chiefs together, which will help foster the unity of the community.

On his part, Sheikh Mohammed Sani Nakambo, Chairman of the High Council of Adenta Zongo and Tribal Chiefs, called on the Defender of Peace to continue with his good works and protect the peace and unity the people of Adenta are enjoying.

The Chief Imam of Adenta Municipality, Sheikh Muhammed Mutawakil Abubakari, described the installation as an instrumental tool that will help sustain peace in the Adenta municipality.

He said the arrival of the peacemaker, who is a Ga, will strengthen the cultural diversity that needs to be spearheaded by all chiefs, adding that it has brought all chiefs under one umbrella to promote peace and unity as well as compel the chiefs to identify their strengths and weaknesses to help one another.

"The Imams in the Adenta municipality will continue to support and pray for the chiefs and the leadership of the municipality to seek the development they all want," he said.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate, Akosua Asaa Manu, also known as Kozie, commended the High Council of Adenta Zongo and Tribal Chiefs for their efforts in ensuring peace in the municipality.

She added that the installation of the Defender of Peace by the council clearly shows their continuous efforts to maintain peace and unity.

Akosua Asaa Manu, who doubles as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority, said her commitment to development and youth, women, and children's empowerment is unwavering, and she will continue to do more for the betterment of the Adenta Constituency.

She said the chiefs and the constituents have witnessed her efforts and will continue to be an exemplary leader and ensure that she gives her best to the development of the area.
