Adjen Kotoku new school block sits idle

Residents of Adjen Kotoku in the Ga West District have expressed concern about the delay in the use of the new school project completed a couple of years ago.

The project has been sitting idle for the past three years.

An elder of the area, Nii Okaidja Papafio, told the Ghana News Agency that they could not ascertain whether the project was a basic school or a senior high school. He said the delay in starting the school, though completed about three years ago, beats their minds.

According to him, the small nature of the project also cast some doubts in the minds of residents as to what exactly it was meant for.

He appealed to the authorities to make it a senior high school and to start operating this year.

Nii Papafio said when the school starts, it would help actualize the government’s vision of making education accessible to all and they would be happy about it.

The Assembly member for Kofi Kwei Electoral Area in Ga South Municipality, Mr. Pius Fiakuna, said that the absence of a senior high school in the area makes it difficult for residents to access senior high education, but since Adjen Kotoku was close to them, they could also benefit from a senior high school if the project is converted to one.
