Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin in a pose with another after commissioning a library
The member of parliament for Effutu, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has commissioned an ultra-modern library and ICT Centre in honor of Richard Ekem, a selfless individual who supported his education.
Afenyo-Markin revealed that Ekem, a quiet and hardworking man, would wake up early for morning devotion and would walk through darkness to study in his leaving room with his friend Ebenezer Akpanu.
Afenyo-Markin shared that when he got admission to St. Augustine's College, Ekem discreetly supported his education without telling him, and he had to rely on friends' contributions to pay his school fees.
The library, named after RC Ekem, features a 100-seat ICT centre, a 150-seat conference hall, and private reading rooms, aiming to promote digital learning and skills development in the Effutu Municipality.
The facility is the 19th library established by Afenyo-Markin in the constituency, demonstrating his commitment to education and human capital development.
