Mr Kwaku Oppong-Kyekyeku Kaakyire, Afigya-Kwabre District Chief Executive (DCE), has called on the people to support the assembly to bring the needed socio-economic development to the area.

He said people’s apathetic attitudes to development would have to change to pave the way for broad consensus building in the development agenda of the district.

The DCE said proper planning and development of the district would need the concerted efforts of stakeholders.

Mr Oppong-Kyekyeku was speaking at a day’s meeting to discuss the district’s draft medium-term development plan at Kodie.

The participants included departmental heads, chiefs, assembly and unit committee members, non-governmental organisations, security officers and revenue collectors.

The aim was to deliberate on the previous programmes and projects and strategise for the year.

Mr Oppong-Kyekyeku said the assembly is facing lots of problems especially in the area of office accommodation.

He advised the people to help in revenue mobilisation.

He said it is among the plans of the assembly to build additional police stations to get more security personnel to the area to combat crime to facilitate peace and development.

Mr Frimpong Kyei Baffour, District Planning Officer said the overall performance in terms of programmes and projects implemented was 60.8 per cent in 2013.

He blamed this on lack of finance and said the assembly would have to work hard in the years ahead to increase internally generated revenue to support development projects.

Mr Kyei Baffour said the assembly would ensure that projects and programmes are fairly distributed to all communities in the district.
