The Afigya-Kwabre District Assembly, as part of stepped up efforts to promote access and raise the standard of education in the area, is putting more resources into the development of schools infrastructure.

Within the past six months, it has completed a number of classroom blocks to create space for increased enrolment.

These include, a six-classroom block with office and store for the Tetrem D/A Primary, and two three-classroom blocks that also come with offices and stores, at Kyekyewere and Ahenkro.

Added to these, is the refurbishment of a four-classroom block at the Mpobi R/C Junior High School (JHS) and a Kindergarten (KG) Complex at Atimatim.

Mr. Kwaku Oppong-Kyekyeku Kaakyire, the District Chief Executive (DCE), handing over the structures at separate ceremonies, pledged to keep the momentum to help significantly improve academic performance.

The Assembly, he said, was determined to invest substantial part of its share of the District Development Fund in education, because that was the way forward for the nation’s future.

It would do everything to create the right environment for effective teaching and learning.

Mr. Oppong-Kyekyeku said the expectation was that the teachers and school children would be inspired by the academically-friendly conditions to produce good results.

He used the occasion to present 10 laptop computers to the Islamic JHS at Tetrem, and eight bundles of roofing sheets and 50 bags of cement towards the rehabilitation of the Adwumakese, KG.

The DCE urged the beneficiary communities to show ownership of the projects, by making sure that the classroom blocks were properly maintained.

He also appealed to parents to put premium on the education of their children, saying it was the best investment they could think of.
