Oku (Ash), Oct 11, GNA- The people living in the Sekyere West district's portion of the Afram Plains who are mostly settler farmers, have commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for its sensitivity for rural dwellers.

They noted with satisfaction the many projects the government was doing in their areas by constructing a major road to open up the plains, which remained inaccessible to vehicles except tractors.

The people commended the government when Mr Thomas Edward Atakorah, the District Chief Executive and Mr Kwame Osei Prempeh, Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsuta/Kwamang visited the area and some communities last week.

The two-day visit took the DCE and the MP to Oku, Kogyae, Njaya, Kwabenakura, Congo, Nkwanta, Kwadwokura and Madina.

The people noted that the government had built school blocks, extended health facilities and water to communities in the plains and said these gave the people hope that the government had them at heart. The DCE expressed his gratitude to the people for showing concern and assured them of more development in health and communication. Mr Osei Prempeh explained the National Health Insurance Scheme to them and told them that it would benefit rural dwellers and that they should embrace it.

He told them to vote massively for the NPP in the 2004 elections to enable it to continue with the good work it had started for them. 11 Oct 03
