Gomoa Akropong (C/R), Sept 20, GNA - The African Faith Tabernacle Church based at Akim Anyinam in the Eastern Region, has trained 80 Peer Educators to lead the campaign against the HI/AIDS pandemic. The leader of the Church, Prophet Nana David Nkansah, said this at the inauguration of the Gomoa Ajumako branch of the Church at Gomoa Akropong in the Central Region.
He said the Peer Educators had been divided into six groups each for an area to enhance the educational campaign against the disease. Prophet Nkansah pointed out that the Church did not encourage its members to use condoms, saying, abstinence was the best way to curb the spread of the disease, adding that, married couples should stick to their partners and to remain faithful.
He said the Executive Council of the Church had embarked on a nation-wide programme on the need to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme.
The Head of the Church appealed to the leaders of the various political parties not to allow partisan politics to divide the country and asked them work for national unity and to maintain the peace and stability the country was enjoying.
He said the Church has established 30 Primary and 20 Junior Secondary Schools throughout the country.
Mr James Amoh-Ainooson, District Elder of the Gomoa Ajumako branch of the Church, appealed to well-endowed religious organisations to establish businesses to employ the teeming unemployed youth.
He said this would be their contribution towards national development, adding that, the Church had acquired land for the cultivation of pineapples to create jobs and to finance its activities.
