‘After eight years of neglect?’ - NDC PC for Kumawu slams Akufo-Addo for commissioning Mahama's 120-bed district hospital

Kwasi Amankwaa, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Kumawu Constituency, has criticized the Akufo-Addo administration for commissioning the long-delayed Kumawu District Hospital, alleging political maneuvering at the expense of public interest.

In a statement issued on the development, Amankwaa, also known as TOM C, lambasted the ruling NPP for what he termed as "eight years of neglect" followed by opportunistic action ahead of elections.

He accused President Akufo-Addo and his government of delaying the completion of the hospital, originally initiated under the Mahama administration's $175 million loan from Barclays Bank Plc, London, and guaranteed by UK Export Finance.

"The Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP government halted funds for the hospital, citing a forensic audit, which prolonged the project unnecessarily and incurred additional costs," Amankwaa asserted.

He also accused the ruling government of attempting to claim credit for a project they delayed, labeling their actions as "deceitful" and "desperate."

Amankwaa highlighted the significance of the hospital to the Kumawu Constituency and demanded assurances that it has been fully equipped and completed according to initial specifications.

"The people of Kumawu will not accept another deceptive commissioning as elections approach," he warned, referencing recent controversies over infrastructure commissions in the region. We demand that the Kumawu District Hospital be fully operational to deliver quality healthcare to our constituency."
