Aggrey Memorial AME Zion Church honours distinguished members

Accra, Nov. 27, GNA - Rev Peter Sefogah, Presiding Elder of the Aggrey Memorial AME Zion Church, on Sunday charged Ghanaians to work hard in their various disciplines to move the nation forward. He said though the levels of salaries might be deplorable, if workers attended to their work with joy and innermost satisfaction, God would compliment their effort in a different way. Rev Sefogah was delivering a sermon at a ceremony organized by the Church to honour four of its eminent and distinguished personalities in Accra.

Those awarded included Major Courage Quashigah, Minister of Health, for being adjudged the best Minister in 2004, Mrs Beatrice Lokko as being the first lady to ever head Accra Academy from 1999 to 2005. The rest were Dr Emmanuel Srofenyoh, the best Gaenacologist at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital in 2002 and Mr Prargon Poneyie, best lecturer in 2002 academic year at the Central University Collage. They were all presented with certificates of acknowledgment and for contributing their quota towards national development in their various capacities.

Rev. Sefogah said the honour was meant to challenge individuals, particularly those "sitting on the fence" and believed in mediocrity to strive for excellence.

He noted: "I'm disappointed that people don't want to soil their hands, yet they want the best things in life," adding things do not happen that way at all.

"God is a worker and of course we are his handiwork, therefore it is imperative for every person to toil and enjoy the fruits of his labour", he added. Rev Sefogah noted that people would not be promoted until they proved to be over qualified for promotion, as it came with more work. "Promotion is not for lazy people, a worker's output determines his level of productivity", he stated.
