Agona East Assembly holds peaceful inauguration

Agona Nsaba (C/R), March 16, GNA - Mr Samuel Richard Zigah, a lecturer at the Department of the Guardian and Counseling of the University of Education, Winneba, was on Tuesday elected as the Presiding Member of the Agona East District Assembly. Mr Zigah, Assembly Member for Nintah/Ofoase Electoral Area, was the sole candidate and polled 29 out of 30 votes cast. He thanked the members for voting for him and promised that he would not abuse the confidence reposed in him. Mr Zigah called for cooperation from the members to facilitate the development of the district.

Mr Zigah called for cooperation from the members to facilitate the development of the district. Hajia Hajara Musa Ali, a Council of State Member, read the President inaugural address. President Mills appealed to the members to maintain close contact with their electoral areas, consult their people on issues to be discussed in the assembly and collate their opinions and proposals. President Mills advised members not to seek favours from the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives. Nana Kofi Agyekum, Acting President of Nsaba Traditional Area, appealed to politicians to stop over blowing issues since Ghanaians are peace loving people. He said what is happening in neighbouring Cote d'Ivoire and some other African countries should be a wake up call to Ghanaians. Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng, Agona East Member of Parliament, urged the members to desist from acts that could undermine the policies and programmes of the government. 16 March 11
