Agona Nsaba Chiefs launch educational fund

Agona Nsaba (C/R), Nov 22, GNA - The Agona Nsaba Traditional Council at the weekend launched a 100 million cedis educational fund to support needy but brilliant students in the area.

The launching coincided with the climax of a week's activity to mark the annual Akwambo and Yam festivals of the chiefs and the people of the traditional area, at Nsaba.

In an address read on behalf of Nana Okeseku Afari Mintah, Omanhene of Nsaba, Nana Yaw Kobiri, Presiding Member of Agona District Assembly, said the fund had become necessary to support needy students in the area to have higher education.

Nana Okeseku Afari Mintah stated that the chiefs, citizens, companies and individuals would be made to contribute into the fund. He said there was the need for collective effort to reverse the standard of education in the area, which had fallen drastically. The Omanhene pointed out that the government alone could not shoulder the responsibility for the provision of quality education and said the traditional council was leaving no stone unturned to ensure that every child of school going age was enrolled.

Nana Afari-Mintah commended the government for the provision of infrastructure for schools in the area.

The Omanhene asked parents to invest in their children's education because it was the bedrock of their success in future. He appealed to citizens of the area, companies and individuals to assist by contributing into the fund to achieve the goal for its establishment.

The Omanhene appealed to political parties to conduct their campaign in a peaceful manner to promote development.
