Health Centre
Agona Kwayanko, C/R, Sept 7, GNA- The Agricultural and Rural Development Association (ARA), a non profit organisation, has donated drugs, stationery and toys worth 10 million cedis to the Agona Kwayanko Health Centre.
The Organisation has also donated learning materials worth five million cedis, to a cluster of schools at Agona Kwayanko. Mr Henry L. Yanney, Project Manager of the ARA, who made the donation, said it formed part of the Annual Youth Camp meeting, being organised by the organisation for some students in Ghana and their German counterparts at Swedru in the Agona District.
He said the Organisation had planted over 1000 trees at the Head works of Kwayanko Water Dam to protect the vegetation around it. Mr Yanney said ARA, in collaboration with Dr Kwesi Agyei, a Ghanaian based in Germany, had donated solar lamps to the chiefs and people of Achubeya, in the West Gonja of the Northern Region .
He said the Organisation had also donated solar cookers to a number of educational institutions, to encourage the use of the facility in Ghana and to minimise the pressure on the scarce fuelwood.
The fence wall and classroom blocks of the Swedru Vocational Training Institute, have been painted by the ARA at the cost of four million cedis .
Mr G.B.L.Siilo, the District Coordinating Director, thanked the NGO for the kind gesture and urged others to emulate the shining example. 07 Sept.04
