Tepa (Ash), Oct. 10, GNA- The Ahafo-Ano North district assembly has approved additional incentives of 1.3 million cedis cash for each of two doctors posted to the Tepa Government Hospital to motivate them to stay and work in the district.

The hospital has been without a medical doctor for sometime until the Ghana Health Service posted the doctors to the hospital. The assembly approved the incentive package at its meeting at Tepa on Wednesday.

Addressing the meeting, the District Chief Executive, Mr Akwasi Adu-Poku, said the assembly had placed health very high on its agenda. The DCE commended the assembly's revenue collectors for their hard work having mobilised 297 million cedis from the projected revenue of 487.5 million cedis as at the end of September 2003.

He said the assembly was constructing a six-classroom block at Manfo with a library, office and store and a three-seater KVIP toilet with the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

From the HIPC fund, Mr Adu-Poku said the assembly was building a 12-seater aqua-privy toilet at Mabang Zongo and a health centre at Anyinasuso.

Mr Kwame Owusu-Frimpong, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo-Ano North, urged the assembly members to educate their communities to understand and embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme since it was intended to relieve Ghanaians particularly the rural people of their health problems.
