The Ghana AIDS Commission has voted 225 million cedis to the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly towards HIV/AIDS education programmes.
Mr Kenneth Obempong, District Chief Executive announced this at a day' workshop organised by Care Generation Africa Foundation (CGAF), a non-governmental organisation, for school pupils, students and apprentices on the prevention of HIV/AIDS among the youth at Besease on Monday.
He appealed to heads of educational institutions to organise quiz competitions on AIDS as a way of creating the awareness among them about the extent of the spread of the disease and ways through which the increase could be minimised.
Mr Obempong advised the youth to avoid sex and other lifestyles that could expose them to the AIDS and other communicable diseases.
Mr Kwame Adomako-Mensah, Programme Co-ordinator of the CGAF advised the youth to develop positive self-images that would make them able to say "no" to life ruining enticements.
