One of the girls fainted and woke up with cottonwool in her private parts and drip on her
IT came as a shock to the audience, when Madam Ekua Bidia, a mother of six, told the Agona Swedru High court that the defrocked Akaboha of the Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC), had intimate relationships with her and her two daughters. Madam Bidia, who appeared as the first witness during the hearing of the case brought against the suspended Prophet Miritaiah Jonah Jehu-Appiah, told the court that she was saddened, when she learnt that the defrocked leader had seduced her two daughters (names withheld).
According to the witness, her distress stemmed from the fact that some years back, she lived with Akaboha for six years, during which they were lovers. She however said she did not have any issue with the defendant before they separated, after which she got married and had since given birth to six children.
?Apart from being cousins, we lived as lovers and had sexual intercourse. I cannot count the number of times we had sex, this continued for about six years,? she told the court presided over by His Lordship Justice Senyo Dzamefe.
Prophet Miritaiah Jehu-Appiah, was dragged to court in 2002 by the leadership of the Church, to have him officially removed, after he was suspended as the Akaboha and spiritual head of the MDCC.
The predicament of the Akaboha, started in 2002 when media reports about him led to investigations by the leadership of the Church.
He was subsequently suspended by the leadership of the Church, alleging that the defendant had gone astray and was indulging in acts said to be unbecoming of a Man of God.
Continuing, the witness said her brother once invited her from Ho to Mozano to question her on why she had allowed the defendant to have sex with her and her two daughters.
The second witness, who happened to be the daughter of Bidia, in her account, told the court that when she was in Senior Secondary School (SSS) Form One, in 1998, the defendant lured her and had sexual affairs with her.
Narrating her story, the witness said she had arrived from the Nsein Senior Secondary School in the Western Region for vacation at Mozano, when the defendant sent a certain Bro (Brother) Nii to ask her to see him at his residence.
Upon receiving the message, she went to meet the suspended Akaboha, who told her that her father who was a pastor of the Church, had been sent to Abidjan and further claimed that her mother had also died.
?The defendant then told me that he was removing me from Nsein Secondary School to Swedru Secondary School,? she said.
?I accepted this offer and went home. Later, the defendant came to pick me from School and sent me to his house where he offered me tea,? she said.
?After taking the tea, I fell asleep and when I woke up, I found a towel wrapped around my waist without my dress and on a drip. I realized a medical doctor was by my side, taking my pulse,? the witness said.
?I also felt pains in my private part and also found cotton wool in my private part. I therefore asked the doctor why I was being attended to, or receiving treatment because I was not ill. But the doctor responded that he was at his office when the defendant sent for him that someone was seriously ill in his house and should be attended to.
?I fell very sick after this experience, to the knowledge of Akaboha and had to stay home for a whole year and could not attend school till the following year,? she told the court.
?This ordeal of mine was reported and Akaboha sent for my uncle, but I could not tell what discussion they had,? the witness told the court.
The witness further told the court during cross-examination by Counsel for the defendant that she was later sent to the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital, to seek further treatment, where she was made to go for laboratory test to ascertain the authenticity of her claim that she was raped and the report was available.
Reverend Anthony Owusu, the resident nurse at Mozano Clinic, who Akaboha had allegedly called upon to attend to the girl, also in his testimony, corroborated the witness? story.
During the cross-examination, Mr. Asampa, the defense counsel, suggested that all the issues raised by the witnesses were fabrications and nothing else.
He said the witnesses created the story to pave way for the leadership of the church to have the defendant removed as the leader of the MDCC.
