Akim Ayirebi (E/R), March 7, GNA - Christian Help Work for Africa, a Germany-based NGO has donated a 23-seater bus and educational materials worth over 300 million cedis to the Akim Ayirebi Elim Academy. The materials included 15 computers, footballs, brass band instruments, stationery and clothes.

Presenting the items, Rev. Alfred Osei-Poku, International Director of the NGO said the gesture was aimed at assisting the school to provide quality education to the Ghanaian child.

He said with the complexity of the world's economy and its attendant population explosion, especially in the developing countries, including Ghana, it was obvious that government alone could not shoulder the responsibility of providing everything that was needed for quality education for children.

The Birim North District Director of Education, Mr George Diko, was grateful to the NGO for supporting the school but stressed the need for proprietors of private schools to abide by all the guidelines for the setting up of schools.

He urged parents to take keen interest in the education of their children, adding that, the interest and proper supervision of children at home would complement the efforts of teachers at school. Mr Diko advised the teachers to exhibit characters that would inspire the children to grow up to become responsible adults.
