Akim Oda, May 5, GNA - The Omanhene of the Akim Kotoku Traditional Area, Oseadeeyo Dr Frimpong Manso IV, has offered an "olive branch" to those who opposed his installation and said it was about time they put litigation behind them and united towards the development of the area. He said six years of litigation was enough and called on all factions engaged in the dispute to burry their differences once and for all as a prerequisite for development.
Oseadeeyo Dr Frimpong Manso, who was addressing a meeting of the chiefs and people at Akim Oda on Thursday, stressed the need for tolerance of divergent views, saying: "We should come together and think of how to develop the town."
The Omanhene reminded the people that the time had come when communities no longer looked up to the government alone to provide them with all their needs but rather they should initiate their own projects for the government to assist them.
He announced that both the Akim Kotoku and Akim Bosome traditional areas were to establish a chamber of commence at Akim Oda towards the promotion and protection of trade, commence and industry to harness the natural and human resources of the two traditional areas.
The paramount Queen of the Akim Kotoku, Nana Akua Asentewaa III, appealed to the people to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), which she said had come to replace the "cash and carry" system.
She said they should be wary of the HIV/AIDS menace and guard against all behaviours that would lead them to contract the disease.
