Akim Ofoase outdoors Adonten, Nkosuo chiefs

Akim Ofoase (E/R), Sept 3, GNA - The Akim Ofoaseman traditional area has outdoored two chiefs at a colourful durbar at Ofoase in the Akyemmansa District of the Eastern Region to help enhance social amenities in the area.

Nana Kwaku Bogyagu III, Adontenhene, known in private life as Mr Charles Annor, is a 46-year-old Police Sergeant at Sefwi Asawinso. He succeeded his uncle, the late Nana Kwaku Bogyagu II, who died three years ago.

Also, Nana Kwasi Yeboah Asiamah I, Nkosuohene, known in private life as Mr Denis Paul Kwasi Duku, is a 49-year-old Police Inspector of the Buffalo Unit in Kumasi. The two chiefs had earlier swore the oath of allegiance to Nana Dubin Nti, Chief of Akim Ofoase. They pledged to team up to work diligently and assiduously to ensure that the area got its fair share of development projects.

Speaking at the durbar, both Mr Oppong Kusi, Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi Constituency, and Mr Tom Budu, District Chief Executive for Akyemmansa, expressed dismay about the falling standard of education and blamed parents for allowing their children to attend concert and video showa. He suggested the establishment of an educational fund to help curb the trend.

Mr Kusi and Mr Budu were emphatic that irrespective of their political affiliation, they had a common vision to work vigorously as a team to harness the area's human resource, the MP's and the Assemblies' Common Funds towards eradicating poverty from the district. The Ofoasehene Nana Dubin was hopeful that the installation of the Adonten and Nkosuo chiefs would strengthen the chieftaincy institution in the area to help bring development to the newly created district, which was carved out of the new Abirem District.

In his closing remarks, Nana Adarkwa Gyamena I, Chief of Bontodiase who chaired the function, advised the new chiefs to let traditional values, ethics, and skills be their guide in their efforts to improve the living conditions of the people.
