Akuafo Alumni to renovate Hall

Accra, Aug. 21, GNA - The Akuafo Hall Alumni Association is to renovate some blocks of the Hall this year as part of its contribution to making life easier for the students.

The renovation works would involve the provision of toilet facilities, baths and kitchenette in order to meet the needs of the large number of students resident in the Hall.

In this direction, each member of the Alumni is to contribute 500,000 cedis towards the implementation of the projects. The decision was reached at a general meeting of the Alumni, which was attended by Members of Parliament, Medical Doctors, Private Businessmen and Public Servants.

The meeting also agreed on the provision of sports and recreational facilities for students and also on the building of a permanent link between the members of the Alumni and the students. Consensus was also reached on a nationwide membership drive and ensuring that members of the Alumni took active part in activities that were meant to lift the image of the Hall.

The meeting was also used to introduce the National Executive members of the Association. They are Dr Victor Osei, President; Captain Fred Quaah-Afful (rtd); Alhaji Adam Mahama, General Secretary and Mr Akwei Moffat, Assistant Secretary.

The rest are Miss Theresah Fosu, Treasurer; Nana Owoahene Akyeampong, Chief of Kwahu Mpraeso Community in Accra-Tema Area, and Mrs Theresah Quianoo Executive Members.

Dr Vicotr Osei, of the COCOBOD Clinic, appealed to members to pay their levies promptly to facilitate the execution of the project. He also urged members who did not attend the general meetings to endeavour to do so.
