Accra, June 7, GNA - The first Edition of the Greater Accra Branch of Akuafo Hall Alumni Journal has been launched by Mr Kwadwo Baah Wiredu, Minister for Education Youth and Sports Accra with a call on the Editorial to devote a part of its column to sanitation on the campus of the University of Ghana, Legon.

He said there was the need to draw attention of students to maintain healthy surroundings.

The Minister also said the Journal should be mindful and support democracy "since one party state will not augur well for the nation". The Journal has its entire Editorial Board being Alumni of Akuafo Hall.

Mr Baah-Wiredu noted that the University used to have the "Legon Observer" some years ago, which did a yeoman's job in its publications adding that he was hopeful that Akuafo Hall Journal "would fill the vacuum left by the "Legon Observer".

Mr Paul Mark Owoo, General Secretary of Akuafo Hall Alumni Association, urged all to support democratic governance since dictatorship brought about chaos.

Professor Adzei Bekoe, Member of the Council of State and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, who chaired the function, urged the Editorial Board to devote space to technology to enable views on how to improve it to be expressed.

Those present at the function included Mr Joe Donkor, Deputy Minister of Education Youth and Sports.
